Married for 47 years, father of 3 grown children, and native Californian, my passions include piano keyboard composition, poetry, hiking, photography, vegetarian cooking, tournament bridge, volunteerism, and medical outreaches to faraway places!
Having spent most of my personal and professional life in the Bay Area, I embrace, not so much the "melting pot" metaphor as "fruit salad." What that means is that, we can all call ourselves "Americans" and still maintain our culture, our traditions, and yes, our language as part of the whole. This country would be the poorer for the absence of immigrants who come to this great land, seeking a better way.
I am blessed with the opportunity to live and work here and to improve the lives of those less fortunate or less able.
Fortunate to have grown up with access to good schools and a stable family, Dr. Reis saw, at a very early age, the disparity between "haves" and "have-nots." To this end he vowed to find a way to make a difference in the world, blending 60's era idealism with practical application.
From adolescence, he has been active in many volunteer capacities, both individually and in team efforts including (partial list):
(after-school tutoring for
at-risk lower income students)
San Mateo and Sequoia Adult Schools
He has served as both past-president and past-director of the San Mateo County Chiropractic Society (CCA)
A native of San Mateo County, Dr. Brian Jose' Reis graduated cum laude from Los Angeles Chiropractic College in 1983.
He began in private practice in San Mateo County and soon joined Mills Peninsula Medical Group as the IPA's first D.C., tending to chronic pain patients who had failed to respond to more conventional modalities.
Following the sale of his private practice he joined Lifelong Medical Group, becoming the first DC in the East Bay (S,F. Bay Area) to be employed by a federally-funded community clinic (FQHC). From his interaction with lower income patients from myriad backgrounds and pathways grew an appreciation for diversity and a sensitivity for cross-cultural communication and compassion.
Dr. Reis has completed post-graduate work in the evaluation and treatment of both spine and limb conditions, leading to board-certification as a Chiropractic Orthopedist (a status held by less than 3% of chiropractors, nation-wide.)
He was one of California's first appointed QME´s and has been qualified as an expert witness in auto accident med-legal settings. He is Spanish-bilingual.
He is the current owner/CEO of "Chiro-on-Call," a forensic, medical-legal service providing independent medical evaluations, records review, expert witness testimony and Qualified and Agreed Medical Examinations for auto insurance carriers and the state of California
